Just back from Barcamp Saigon 2009. Just like what I guessed, there were not much to talk.
My session with Min Tran was successful. We discussed about:
- The roles of HTML/CSS in Web Development.
- Presentation Tags vs Logical Tags: How to write Semantic HTML?
- Table vs Div: Why and when?
- Email Standard, tabular data and inline-css.
- A little of HTML5 and CSS3.
- …
I didn’t answer some question like “What does the benchmark of good HTML look like?” or “How grid system empowers the Web usability”, I have no idea about those. I thought Nguyen Ngoc Phuong knows about this, so I suggested the questioner to ask him, not me.
My friend Thuan Ngo and Mr. Quang Vu joined us to discuss about these topics too, it was fun to debate with them. I was learned something from Thuan, he always inspiring me.
After the lunch, I attended Mozilla’s session about Firefox, Thunderbird and other Mozilla open source applications. This session was so useful. To me, this is the most important session of Barcamp Saigon 2009. I love Mozilla’s free gifts too. Gee…
Have to leave before the ending. I knew I missed some great sessions this year, but I don’t think Barcamp Saigon 2009 was successful like 2008. All sessions are about technology, marketing, networking, social media… I think next year we should focus about design, publishing, travel, environment… or simply about love.
See you on Barcamp Saigon 2010.
A barcamp is not a conference where you pay and can expect speakers. We are depending on the people who show up and make sessions. It might be not useful for you this year, but maybe for others. The success of a barcamp is not that everyone gets what he want, but gives what he can. Including love
Hello anh Ban,
Of course you missed one of the most interesting session. This is the last session, named “Lightning talk” made by 31o5 (sorry I don’t know her name). In this session we just talk about everything we like. There was a warm atmosphere in this room, most participant was volunteer, we gathered around to chat & chit. Then she told us about the presentation she did in Barcamp Bangkok: “How to date a Japanese girl”. Wow, all I can say is “so interesting”.
At first, I didn’t think this session would be exciting, but it did. You can find this presentation on slideshare

By the way, thanks anh Ban for showing me what I can do at Barcamp. Actually, I didn’t think that travel topic could be welcomed at Barcamp.
@Thomas: Please don’t get me wrong. I know all that you save about Barcamp. This article is just a note of my feeling about Barcamp Saigon 2009.
@Quynh: Too bad I missed it. Thanks for coming and sharing me this presentation.
