Yahoo Developer Network Meet-up

Today, I come to an informal meeting between Yahoo Developer Network evangelist Micheal Smith and us developers in Saigon. Micheal was introducing about Yahoo Developer Network, Yahoo’s incoming homepage Metro, and also how to integrate our products on this brand new homepage. I love the YQL and YAP parts, very interesting.

My co-worker Si was wondering that do Yahoo has its own YML (Yahoo Markup Language), he was inspired by FML (Facebook Markup Language), but the question has never been made. I think he should send Smith an email to figure it out.

On networking activities, the most interested person I met today is Alex Le (don’t know if I was wrong). He is not only a PHP Developer, but also a person with a good point of view. I also met Mr. Thomas Wanhoff after a long time. He was correct me about the fight of Chip with Vietnam’s social network big mouths.

After the meet-up, we went to Coffee Beans, where Micheal bought us some coffees, thank you for that Micheal! :) We discussed about Yahoo’s Open Hack Day in Vietnam. Yahoo knows that us developers don’t know anything about their technologies, and Micheal has the mission to change this situation. I think he will make a better plan to present us at the next Barcamp Saigon on December 13th, 2009.
